After saying yes to the Algerian selection, Amine Gouiri found himself sidelined within his club Rennes.

Was Amine Gouiri sanctioned by his management at Stade Rennais for playing for the France team? The hypothesis, far-fetched at first, is gaining momentum since the former Nice player has just completed two matches on the bench.

Maurice furious with Gouiri?

Left as a substitute against Maccabi Haifa last Thursday, Gouiri was again sidelined on Sunday during the Rouge et Noir’s trip to Montpellier. To occupy the forefront of the attack, Bruno Genésio preferred the young Turk Bertug Ozgur.

Gouiri started well last weekend against LOSC. After this match, Florian Maurice provoked the Algerian coach Djamel Belmadi by contradicting his words. This had led to a dispute between the two camps and it was Gouiri who seemed to be paying the price.

As a reminder, Gouiri joined Rennes in the summer of 2022 from Nice and as part of an exchange with Gaetan Laborde. Since then, he has played 48 games with the Breton team, scoring 18 goals and 6 assists along the way.
