Continuation of the 5th day of Serie A. Defeated last week against Fiorentina, Atalanta Bergamo hosted Cagliari a few days after having successfully entered the Europa League by beating the Polish club Rakow (2-0). Gian Piero Gasperini’s men dominated the match from start to finish. Despite a goal denied to Charles De Ketelaere for an offside position, Ademola Lookman opened the scoring after half an hour of play on a serve from the Belgian (1-0, 33rd). Returning from the locker room, the Dea maintained the pressure in the opposing camp and scored the break goal in the last quarter of an hour through Mario Pasalic (2-0, 76th).

Thanks to this victory, Atalanta (6th) resumes its march forward and approaches the top 5. For its part, Cagliari (19th) records a third setback in five matches and is still looking for its first success in the season. At the same time, Fiorentina traveled to Udinese. Faller of Atalanta last week, the Viola quickly made the difference in the first period thanks to Lucas Martinez Quarta (1-0, 32nd) before the former AC Milan midfielder, Giacomo Bonaventura, definitively seals the success of his team in added time (2-0, 90th + 2). Fiorentina climbs to fifth place and is five points behind the leader, Inter Milan, while Udinese remains in the red zone (18th).
