The first meeting of the day counting for the 6th day of La Liga offered a great confrontation between Real Sociedad and Getafe at the Anoeta stadium. After having made Real Madrid doubt during the previous day of the Spanish championship then Inter Milan in the Champions League without succeeding in winning despite big highlights, Imanol Alguacil’s players were able to return to the leading teams in case of victory. A message well understood by Takefusa Kubo who opened the scoring shortly after kick-off (2nd, 1-0). But just before the break, the visitors completely reversed the trend with two goals from Carles Aleña (39th, 1-1) and Borja Mayoral from a penalty (45th+5, 1-2).

Returning from the locker room, the match remained incandescent and it was the turn of the locals to take this match into another dimension by scoring two goals in less than five minutes to completely revive themselves through Mikel Oyarzabal, on a penalty then that the Spanish striker had come into play only a few minutes earlier (61st, 2-2), and Brais Mendez (66th, 3-2). At the very end of the game, Mikel Oyarzabal gave the score a little more width thanks to his double (88th, 4-2). A goal which allowed Real Sociedad to keep the three points despite the reduction of Juanmi Latasa’s score in added time (90th + 2, 4-3). Thanks to this victory, the locals temporarily move up to 6th place in La Liga.
