Gotze was trained in Dortmund. He also had the best years of his career there before taking charge of Bayern in 2013. In Munich, he failed to perform well. “It would have been good for me to go abroad after playing for Dortmund and Bayern. What I did then was, four years later, I found a new environment,” he added.
Gotze, who was Germany’s only scorer in the 2014 World Cup final against Argentina, currently plays in the Bundesliga with Eintracht Frankfurt.
