At the end of a match with few scoring opportunities, AC Milan beat Hellas Verona (1-0). A victory allowing the Lombard club to move up to second place in Serie A.

This Saturday afternoon, AC Milan hosted Hellas Verona for the fifth day of Serie A. A match whose kick-off was postponed by twenty-five minutes due to bad weather in the Lombard city. In some parts of San Siro the ball wasn’t even bouncing.

Initially scheduled for 3 p.m., the match therefore began at 3:25 p.m. Launched by Olivier Giroud in the axis, Rafael Leão anticipated Montipo’s exit to score with the flat of his left foot (1-0, 8th). The French striker could have made the break just before half-time, but the Swede Isak Hien blocked his volley from the left (44th).

In the second half, Verona grew bolder, notably taking possession of the ball. The Milan coach made several changes, including that of Olivier Giroud replaced by Luka Jovic shortly after the hour mark (65th).

Thanks to this success, AC Milan moves back to second place in Serie A. Stefano Pioli’s men have the same number of points (12) as Inter, who will travel to Empoli on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
