The French Football League has just taken action against audiovisual pirates.

Football lovers, who did not have the necessary finances to subscribe to all the French broadcasters of the various European competitions, had become accustomed to consoling themselves with IPTV services, for derisory costs. An illicit, easy solution that is about to disappear.

The LFP wins its fight against piracy

At the end of a long fight against audiovisual pirates, the LFP obtained from internet providers the blocking of all services which offer this type of broadcasting. The French championships will therefore no longer be able to be visible, other than through official channels.

“In an order issued on September 19, 2023, the President of the Paris Judicial Court ordered the blocking by French internet service providers of access to live streaming sites and major IPTV services broadcasting without authorization the Ligue 1 Uber Eats and Ligue 2 BKT championships.

This decision will allow the LFP to effectively protect rights for the 2023/2024 season by requesting from Arcom an update of the blocking measures ordered by the judge. The LFP will thus be able to block throughout the season, in addition to the sites and services identified in the order, any pirate site or service illicitly broadcasting the Ligue 1 Uber Eats and Ligue 2 BKT championships.

It is therefore a revolution but also a real step forward against piracy. To the great joy of multinationals who pay millions to obtain broadcast rights to major competitions. And to the great dismay of enthusiasts with limited income, once again forced to break the bank to follow their favorite teams and events.
