While Olympique de Marseille is experiencing an unprecedented crisis, the club is reportedly looking for a potential successor to Pablo Longoria.
It’s fire in Marseille. Since Monday evening, the divide seems serious on the OM side, particularly between the supporter groups and the Marseille management. And for good reason, a meeting between the two parties which turned into a fiasco, pushing Marcelino to resign, and Pablo Longoria to question his future.
Thus, jostled by groups of supporters, the president of the Marseille club decided to step back to reflect on his future. Yesterday, Frank McCourt published a clear press release to reassure Longoria, materializing his wish for a form of status quo as mentioned The Team this Friday.
McCourt seeks new president
However, according to the same source, OM have already launched the search for a potential successor to the Spaniard. The sports daily suggests that Julien Fournier could be an avenue studied by the Marseille club in the event of the departure of its president.
Fournier had previously discussed with owner McCourt’s clan as part of contacts for Saudi buyers in June. However, the discussions were unsuccessful due to McCourt’s high financial demands.
Julien Fournier already has past experience within OM as secretary general from 2004 to 2009. According to The Teamhe is well placed to replace the current president.
