Former French international Emmanuel Petit believes the Spanish coach did not show enough resilience.
Olympique de Marseille is going through a deep crisis and everyone has their own opinion regarding this turmoil. There are those who side with Pablo Longoria and Marcelino, denouncing the pressure exerted against them. And there are also some who rather take sides in favor of the supporters, suggesting that they have only highlighted the abuses that exist in this club.
For Petit, there are unrevealed secrets at OM
Within the second category, we find a certain Emmanuel Petit. The latter said he was scandalized by the fact that the coach and the president threw in the towel so quickly. “It’s a joke, he started by letting go on RMC Sport. Even if the management took the lead in a meeting with supporters’ representatives, this is not what will confirm the departure of the coach behind and the withdrawal of the edge which runs the club. There is something much heavier behind that we are hiding”
Something heavy or fishy. This was already the meaning of the comments made by Petit en Bleu’s former teammate, Christophe Dugarry. “If there were threats, why didn’t Longoria and the others file a complaint,” he asked on Wednesday. I think it packs its bags a little quickly. Eyraud did it (file a complaint), and he doesn’t do it. Taking a step back doesn’t mean anything, it’s not an explanation.”
🗣💬 “I am disappointed with the turn of events. Especially since his arrival, Longoria was doing quite well. When it happened, I didn’t believe it.”

Petit has a dispute with those who govern at OM since the time he was a player. On numerous occasions, he has also declared that he was robbed of the title of French champion with AS Monaco in the mid-90s.
“Marcelino did not have the passionate side”
While pointing the finger at Olympian officials, Petit still recognized that Longoria has done a good job since his induction as president. On the other hand, he is hardly seduced by what Marcelino did and even less by the way in which he left the club. “I am disappointed with the turn of events with Olympique de Marseille. Especially since the arrival of Longoria, his staff and the people he put in place, the president of OM has been doing rather well despite a change in staff each year, said the consultant. The start of the season is more than correct from an accounting point of view. The big question really surrounded coach Marcelino. Did he really embody the passionate side of what we have the right to expect from a coach on the OM bench? And also in terms of play, you need a show.”
