A former great Barça player calls for people not to get excited about the exploits of the young prodigy, Lamine Yamal.
Former FC Barcelona player Michael Laudrup believes that we should not expect too much from Lamine Yamal.
At only 16 years old, Yamal is already a major player for Barça and the Spanish selection. After bursting onto the scene midway through last season, he has continued to wow ever since. Praises are raining down on him.
“He must not do an Ansu Fati”
Laudrup does not deny the fact that Yamal has extraordinary qualities. However, he wants to wait a little before giving his final judgment. And for good reason ; he is afraid that the new Spanish international will do an Ansu Fati.
“He is very young and has incredible individual qualities. He doesn’t let himself get upset when he plays at this level. He has a lot of qualities, he is well integrated with the rest of the team and he has extraordinary one-on-one numbers. But, that said, one must be careful before proclaiming him as one of the best in the world because he is only 16 years old; we had the example of Ansu Fati, who unfortunately got injured and never reached his level again. We have to let these young players mature slowly.”confided the former Danish star.
