For leaving OM in a hurry, Marcelino was subject to ridicule from a European MP.

Marcelino officially gave up his duties as coach of Olympique de Marseille. Scalded by the heavy atmosphere that reigns around the club, the Spaniard gave up his apron only three months after his arrival. A decision regretted by some.

“Marcelino lacked courage”

However, if there were some who were understanding of this choice given the circumstances, others did not hesitate to castigate the Iberian technician for an alleged lack of courage. This was the case of Eric Di Méco, one of the club’s former players, but also of a politician, in the person of Karim Zeribi.

Known to be an OM supporter, the man who was a municipal councilor in the Marseille city openly and publicly tackled Marcelino. On his X account (ex-twitter), he wrote: “It’s incredible what’s happening at OM! Even if respect must be imposed on everyone in all circumstances, it is abnormal for the coach and the president to run away in front of supporters who speak loudly! This means they are neither courageous nor up to pressure! “.

A clear opinion which nevertheless earned the ex-MP a lot of criticism. “ Ah the clientelism to please the friends of the Belle de Mai… How sad to become a politician like that”, he was told in particular. However, it was impossible to display the response directly under his message because the person concerned closed the comments area. For someone who dared to give lessons in courage, it wasn’t a very coherent reflex.
