Since the start of the current century, no OM coach has thrown in the towel so quickly.
After only five days of Ligue 1, Marcelino is preparing to leave his post as coach of Olympique de Marseille. According to RMC Sport, the Spanish technician would have made this decision after being “marked and shocked by the comments made by supporters against its leaders”.
In the 21st century, if we except the interim coaches, no coach of the Marseille club had left his post so quickly. On June 23, the former midfielder officially became the successor to Croatian Igor Tudor. Less than three years later, he decided to leave. The former FC Valence coach will therefore have only spent seven matches on the OM sidelines. His passage will therefore have been even more furtive than those of Javier Clemente (15 matches between November 2000 and April 2001), Tomislav Ivic (15 between April and November 2001), Albert Emon (21 between December 2001 and June 2002), Philippe Troussier ( 23 between November 2004 and June 2005) and José Anigo (26 between December 2013 and June 2014).

With OM, who are in third place in Ligue 1, Marcelino had only lost one match in all competitions. It was the first leg of the third qualifying round for the Champions League, against Panathinaikos. However, the game proposed by the Marseille club did not convince the supporters at all.
