After a disappointing 2022/2023 season, Paris Saint-Germain decided to clean up its ranks during the last summer transfer window. Indeed, the Parisian club decided to get rid of several players who were classified as undesirable, such as Mauro Icardi, Leandro Paredes, Abdou Diallo, Renato Sanches, Georginio Wijnaldum and Julian Draxler, but also certain executives from the Rouge locker room. and Blue such as Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr and Marco Verratti. The transfer of the Brazilian to Al Hilal for 90 million euros is also the best sale made by the leaders of the Parisian team in the entire history of the capital club.

But it is not this operation which could provoke the anger of UEFA but rather the departures of three other players to Qatari teams. Marco Verratti, Abdou Diallo and the latest Julian Draxler have all three joined Qatar respectively at Al Arabi for the first two cities and Al Ahli for the last. If the departure of the Italian midfielder brought in 45 million euros for PSG, this is also the case for Abdou Diallo and Julian Draxler. The two undesirables from the Parisian club indeed brought in 35 million euros on their side. The Parisian club thus gained 80 million euros by selling three of its players to Qatari clubs.

UEFA could crack down and impose a huge sanction on PSG

Transfers which also made Javier Tebas jump. I“They take us for idiots? We can do that too, find a satellite country that buys players from us to make big profits and then buy all the players we want. Is this the system we want? I do not believe”, the president of La Liga was also annoyed. If these departures are a great success from a financial point of view, the Parisian management could quickly become disillusioned since UEFA would be able to devalue these transfers due to a proximity deemed too great between the seller and the various buyers, as reports our colleagues from The Team. This is already the case for sponsorship contracts signed with Qatari companies.
