Manchester City are in no hurry at all to sign a new contract for their Belgian captain, Kevin De Bruyne.
Manchester City management have reportedly blocked negotiations on a new contract with Kevin De Bruyne.
Man City have doubts over De Bruyne
The 32-year-old Belgian midfielder’s contract expires in 2025 and no new deal is yet on the negotiating table. The Daily Star claims that the reason for the delay is that the Blues board wants to see how De Bruyne’s current injury progresses and then judge whether or not he is able to return to his best level.
At the same time, City are aware that this is a risky plan, as interest in the 32-year-old could grow as his contract deadline approaches. During the previous transfer window, Saudi clubs courted him.
De Bruyne, who is the longest-serving member of City’s squad, is currently recovering from a serious hamstring injury. He has yet to play a single match this season.
