By combining swaying dribbles, accelerations and even finishing, the former Stade Rennais made everyone agree on Saturday afternoon in the suburbs of London, to the point of obtaining the praise of his coach Pep Guardiola. In Spain too, the performance of the young Belgian (21 years old) did not go unnoticed since Defensa Central says that Doku was offered by Zinédine Zidane to Real Madrid at the time. In vain.
According to the Spanish media, the ex-Madrid tactician had checked the name of the former Rennes winger to bring him to Madrid. But the transfer did not take place, for the simple reason that the Breton club seemed too greedy in demanding compensation which exceeded Casa Blanca’s expectations. In the end and a few years later, Manchester City came forward to bring Jérémy Doku to England, who is making a great debut in the Premier League. Let’s hope that Real Madrid don’t bite their fingers in the future…
