Paris Saint-Germain has completed a new important transfer, at the end of a transfer window which will be remembered…

There were tears, a moment of communion, powerful images and a feeling of incomprehension, Friday evening, at the Parc des Princes, when Marco Verratti said goodbye to the Parisian public. But history will record that the transfer of the little Italian to Al-Arabi is not the last of this revolutionary summer transfer window in the ranks of the capital club. Another element present for many years in the City of Lights has packed its bags and opted for the same destination as the one nicknamed “the little owl”.

Pushed towards the exit, Julian Draxler will also continue his career in Qatar. Paris Saint-Germain and Al-Ahli have found common ground for the transfer of the German attacking midfielder. Draxler successfully passed the traditional medical examination, prior to signing his new contract.

A departure through the back door

The transfer of Julian Draxler confirms Paris Saint-Germain’s strategy, which is definitively moving into a new era. The German international was in fact one of the oldest players in the Parisian locker room. Arriving in the winter of 2017, Draxler quickly established himself as an important offensive element in the systems of Unai Emery, then Thomas Tuchel. But its level and consistency have declined over the years. The 2014 world champion was loaned to Benfica last season, without winning in Portugal.
