The former French coach, Raymond Domenech, made fun of the tears shed at a press conference by Marseillais Renan Lodi.
The Brazilian Renan Lodi was overwhelmed by emotions during his last meeting with the press near the Commanderie. Asked about his childhood, the former Atlético player could not hold back his tears as he remembered the hard times he experienced.
“There are 50,000 poor people who have made it into football”
The Marseille player’s intervention was sincere, but there were some who were not touched by his speech. Raymond Domenech, for example, was embarrassed by the sequence.
“People are going to tease me again and say that I have no feelings, but there are 50,000 poor players who make it in football. It’s sad, but it’s not exceptional », blurted out the former French coach, obviously completely indifferent to the case of the new Marseille recruit.
Domenech not interested in player problems
Domenech then explained his approach to players, revealing that he doesn’t care much about their journey in life. “I was not conditioned in my decisions by their lives. If we think about social condition, we can also very well return to the color of beauty. When I took a player, I just thought of the footballer. He could be stupid, if he was good on the field I put him on. We do not mark those who were poor and those who did not suffer. We know that he had a different life, but that does not influence our judgment”.
