Victim of a ruptured Achilles tendon, Thomas Lemar will undergo surgery and will miss the next six months of competition with Atlético…
There was concern on Saturday when a crying Thomas Lemar was taken out on a stretcher. The French international from Atlético de Madrid collapsed alone on the field during his team’s rout in Valencia (3-0), and the verdict is terrible.
On Sunday, the capital club announced that the attacking midfielder suffered from a ruptured right Achilles tendon and was forced to undergo surgery. According to the local press, Lemar will miss approximately six months of competition. A disaster for the former Monegasque, started three times in four La Liga days by Diego Simeone.
Recruited for 72 million euros in 2018, Lemar never really exploded with this unspectacular Atlético team. He remained in a season with 32 matches in all competitions, for one goal and three assists. Not enough to push Didier Deschamps to recall him to the French team. The 2018 world champion has not played with the Blues since September 2021.
