Olympique Lyonnais has just formalized the arrival on its bench of Italian coach Fabio Grosso.
Olympique Lyonnais holds the successor to Laurent Blanc. The Rhone club has, as expected, called on the young Italian coach Fabio Grosso. Free from any commitment, the 2006 world champion signs a contract until the end of the season, plus another year as an option.
Grosso back in Lyon, fourteen years later
Grosso returns to Lyon, fourteen years after leaving it. He played for Les Gones as a player for two seasons (from 2007 to 2009). The Transalpine took part in 78 matches, leaving very good memories to all those who knew him on the Gerland side.
Grosso was preferred to his compatriot Gattuso, who had nevertheless given his agreement to owner John Textor. Previously, Graham Potter and Oliver Glasner had turned down the position.
Grosso’s mission promises to be complicated. OL have just had a catastrophic start to the year. With only one point taken out of twelve possible, the seven-time French champion club is currently in the very last place in the ranking. The sporting situation is worrying, even if it is far from irreversible.

Grosso will not be on the bench on Sunday during the opposition against Le Havre. He will not officially take office until next Monday, after being presented to the press. Facing the Normans, it is the interim trio Vulliez – Anderson – Bréchet who will be responsible for making the Lyonnais shine. The new coach will still be in the stands to see his team at work and take notes for the future.
