The Algerian coach declined a fantastic offer from Saudi Arabia.
The Saudi club Al-Ahli is today coached by the German Matthias Jaissle. But, before betting on this young technician, those responsible for this training had thought of an Algerian technician. Their objective was to secure the services of Djamel Belmadi.
Belmadi loyal to the Algerian selection
A big contract was offered to the current coach of the Greens. The salary was much higher than what he received from the FAF, but the person concerned was able to resist it. He declined this opportunity, preferring to continue in his current role. Less lucrative but more honorable.
Last week, on RMC Sport, Belmadi admitted to having had contact with Gulf clubs. “I could have gone there, especially since it’s fashionable at the moment, and been calm. But no, I have a job to finish with my selection and my country. It would have been too easy to fail.” he confided.
Belmadi failed to qualify the Fennecs for the World Cup in Qatar. Now, he is determined to make up for it by guiding his troops towards the 2026 World Cup. By then, there will be two CANs to compete, including next year’s in Ivory Coast.
