Before meeting PSG, during the first day of Group F of the Champions League, and after the defeat of the Rouge et Bleu against OGC Nice, Friday evening, Borussia Dortmund traveled to the Friborg pitch at the occasion of the 4th day of the Bundesliga. Plunged into a climate of crisis after two draws against Bochum and promoted Heidenheim before the winter break, the Marsupials had to raise their heads. Yes, but despite the early opening score from Hummels (0-1, 11th), the German club quickly fell back into its ways. Caught in the duels, pierced in midfield and far too fragile defensively, Dortmund saw themselves knocked down just before the break. With a deflected header, Höler put the two teams back on level terms (1-1, 45+2nd) before Höfler also hit a helmet strike to give his team the advantage (2-1, 45+ 6th). Upon returning from the locker room, Dortmund reacted despite everything through Malen (2-2, 60th).
Jostled in the final moments, Dortmund would nevertheless come out ahead against Freiburg, reduced to ten men at the end of the match. On a messed up ball, Hummels scored twice (2-3, 88th) before Reus completed his team’s success with a superb strike (2-4, 90+2nd). The concern is, despite everything, still present before the shock against PSG. In the other matches scheduled for 3:30 p.m., Hoffenheim won without trembling (3-1) on the Cologne pitch thanks to three goals from Kramaric (1st), Grillitsch (28th) and Beier (52nd). For its part, Wolfsburg defeated Union Berlin (2-1). Author of a remarkable start to the season, Stuttgart, third at kick-off, confirmed its very good momentum on the field of Mainz (1-2) thanks to a hat-trick from Guirassy. Finally, RB Leipzig, led in particular by Xavi Simons and Lois Openda, played against Augsburg (3-0). In the standings, Leverkusen and Bayern Munich, back to back on Friday evening, remain in the lead, just ahead of RBL, Stuttgart Hoffenheim, Wolfsburg. In the last places, Darmstadt remains bottom before challenging Gladbach. Cologne is 17th, Dortmund rises to 7th place.
