Paris Saint-Germain conceded their first defeat of the season by losing against Nice (2-3), including a double from Terem Moffi.

In an evening dedicated to Marco Verratti, to whom the Parc des Princes paid tribute after his departure, the meeting which followed between Paris Saint-Germain and OGC Nice was spectacular. But the Aiglons came to spoil the party, inflicting PSG (and Luis Enrique) with their first defeat of the season (2-3).

Francesco Farioli’s men opened the scoring with Terem Moffi (0-1, 21st), in an action started by a ball recovered by Jean-Clair Todibo at the feet of Kylian Mbappé. PSG reacted, but Ousmane Dembélé, not having a great night, wasted a superb counter-attack (28th), and it was then Mbappé who made up for his mistake on the opening score by equalizing a nice strike (1-1, 29th).

Moffi stronger than Mbappé

PSG had the best chances at the end of the first period, through Dembélé (38th) and Mbappé (44th), but the Niçois made the difference after returning from the locker room thanks to an untenable Moffi. After a solo counterattack, the Nigerian striker served Gaëtan Laborde well behind (1-2, 53rd). A quarter of an hour later, the former Lorient player once again crucified Gianluigi Donnarumma, with a perfectly placed 20-meter shot (1-3, 69th).

Luis Enrique had however tried to reverse the trend, by launching his latest recruits, Bradley Barcola and Randal Kolo Muani, then the essential Manuel Ugarte, preserved at kick-off after the international window. This was not enough, even if Kolo Muani is to be credited with an assist for this cross where Mbappé placed a nice volley (2-3, 87th).

This is therefore the first hiccup of the season for PSG, which will have to learn its lessons before a highly anticipated week with the two shocks against Dortmund and OM. OGC Nice, for its part, temporarily rose to second place and this success on the French champions’ field turned the Aiglons’ start to the season into a very positive one.
