The passage of OM under the Saudi flag would once again be on the agenda.
Olympique de Marseille still belongs to American businessman Frank McCourt, but perhaps not for long. The sale of the Olympian club to the Saudis, mentioned in the press for almost two years, would be more plausible than ever.
McCourt no longer cares as much about OM
Thursday evening, news came to support the hypothesis of a transfer of power. That of the definitive departure of Jacques-Henri Eyraud. The former president is no longer an employee of the club although until now he continued to work in the shadows for the Phocaeans. Knowing that he arrived in Marseille at the same time as his boss, we can imagine that the latter also begins to pack his bags. Didn’t McCourt declare in February 2021 and when denying the first sales rumors that he would stay with “Eyraud until the end in order to carry out the OM project”.
Note that other information circulating in the media suggests that McCourt recently resorted to a money loan from a large company in the Middle East. And this in order to be able to build a competitive team for the new season. There would be a clause which would allow its creditors to take over the club, if the American did not keep its commitments.
Those who want to believe in an imminent takeover have another reason to be optimistic. The call for tenders for TV rights is currently underway and the verdict is expected next month. For a newcomer to the French football landscape, this is perhaps the best timing to invest.
