Ultimately remaining at Tottenham this summer despite his club’s desire to part with him, Hugo Lloris saw his coach include him on the list of players requisitioned for the Premier League season.
Even more than last year, Hugo Lloris seemed on the verge of leaving Tottenham this summer. Arrived eleven years ago at the Spurs, the goalkeeper was told by Ange Postecoglou, his new coach, that he would not be used this season. Enough to push Lloris to inquire with other clubs, including OGC Nice. No result. Ultimately remaining within the London squad, the 2018 world champion nevertheless had the happy surprise of finding that his name was included on the list of players selected to play in the Premier League.
Even if he is no longer the number 1 goalkeeper, he who now goes behind Guglielmo Vicario, Hugo Lloris is no longer persona non grata at Tottenham. However, there is little chance of seeing the Frenchman keep the cage again. Spurs. Unless of course the holder gets injured or the latter’s performances are such that they push the coach to put Lloris back in the forefront.
Reduced chances
It remains to be seen whether he will be entitled to some playing time during the various national cups. Even if here again, it is rather Fraser Forster, current number 2 in the goalkeeper hierarchy, who should have priority. And since Tottenham are not playing in the European Cup this season, the chances of seeing Hugo Lloris play remain particularly slim.
