Zidane, Platini, new provocation from Argentina for French football!

An Argentinian media outlet has embarked on the difficult mission of compiling the Top 100 best players in the world. A ranking in which French players are hardly celebrating…

Ranking the best players in history is always a perilous exercise. Sports.fr tried it a few years ago and the debates were passionate for a result which obviously cannot escape criticism. The Argentine media Gol de Corazon in turn wanted to establish its Top 100.

And without much surprise, Lionel Messi appears at the top of the ranking, the seven-time Ballon d’Or ahead of his eternal rival, Cristiano Ronaldo, who is preferred to Pelé and Diego Maradona. A third Argentinian – who later became Spanish – completes the Top 5: Alfredo di Stefano. To find French footballers, however, you have to go further down the ranking since no Blue appears in the Top 10.

Di Maria 17th…

The first of them, Zinedine Zidane, only appears in 12e place and Michel Platini, three times Ballon d’Or, only appears in 14e position. The third Frenchman in the ranking is none other than Antoine Griezmann, who is 48eten ranks ahead of Thierry Henry (58e). For the rest, Karim Benzema and Kylian Mbappé follow each other at the 85e and 86e places.

Rather than Zinedine Zidane or Michel Platini, the Argentinian site chose Xavi, Johan Cruyff, Ronaldo, Paolo Maldini and Franz Beckenbauer to complete the Top 10, just ahead of Gerd Müller, 11e.

Among the many other inconsistencies denounced on social networks are also the 17e Place d’Angel Di Maria, 68e place of Eden Hazard or the absence of African players, except Georges Weah, 76e.
