Paris Saint-Germain has confirmed the departure of Marco Verratti, “legend” of the capital club, who signed with Al-Arabi.

Marco Verratti and Paris Saint-Germain, it’s over. The capital club has formalized the transfer of the Italian midfielder to Qatar. It was an open secret, as the former Pescara player had been in Doha for several days, and images of him in his new colors had already leaked.

The departure of Verratti, not included in the club’s squad for the Champions League, had been planned since the end of the transfer window. PSG pushed him out, but still wanted to pay tribute to a player who is still the most successful player in the history of the Club (30 trophies) and the French championship, as well as the second player to play the most matches (416) in the history of PSG, behind Jean-Marc Pilorget (435).

Marco will remain forever linked to Paris Saint-Germain, confides Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, the president of PSG. He played a major role in our great history. I will never forget his arrival in 2012 at the age of 19. Since then, he has always been there for the Club, giving his whole heart on the pitch and achieving so many great things with us. I would like to sincerely thank Marco and his family on behalf of everyone connected to Paris Saint-Germain. He will always be part of the Club. We wish him the best in this new adventure. »

“I was very proud to wear the colors of Paris Saint-Germain for more than a decade, to rub shoulders with so many great players, and to win 30 trophies. Paris, the Club and its supporters will always have a very special place in my heart. I will be Parisian forever”, for his part, assures Marco Verratti.
