Testing positive in August, Paul Pogba admitted to having consumed testosterone, but without knowing it. The player risks a very heavy sanction and breach of contract.
The day after the announcement of his positive test for testosterone, the noose tightened around Paul Pogba. According to Sky Italia, the French midfielder admitted to having consumed this banned product, but “without knowing it”.
The ANSA press agency indicated this Wednesday morning that the testosterone would undoubtedly come from a food supplement consumed by Pogba on the advice of an American doctor whom he had consulted in Miami, during the personal preparation.
If accidental contamination is proven, Pogba could benefit from leniency from the judges, but it is still very likely that he will be sanctioned for negligence. Athletes are indeed required to check what the products they consume contain.
Pogba could receive a two-year suspension, or even four years. If his sanction is confirmed, Juventus would intend to terminate the world champion’s contract, which runs until 2026, which would save him around 30 million euros. Pending the verdict, the player’s salary is suspended. The former Mancunian is not allowed to train with his club during the procedure.
