While Germany continues to disappoint after a worrying final performance against Japan at home (1-3 defeat) in the wake of a failed World Cup in Qatar last year, Ilkay Gundogan returned to the difficulties encountered by the Mannschaft in recent years since his coronation at the 2014 World Cup during an interview given to our colleagues at The Team. The captain of the German selection was also questioned about the France team and in particular where he placed the Germans in relation to the Blues. And the 32-year-old was rave about the French talent.

“You are blessed with all these talents! The reservoir seems limitless. A retreat, an injured person? New ones arrive and are immediately up to standard. It happens all the time, you have at least two or three world-class players in every position. Your team is always the one to beat. It’s really impressive to see the evolution of talents and their density”, said an impressed Ilkay Gundogan. As a reminder, the France team must face Germany this Tuesday in Dortmund (a meeting to follow live with commentary on French Football Weekly). A great opportunity to get back on track for the Germans against the last finalists of the World Cup in Qatar before hosting Euro 2024.
