Former Germany international Rudi Völler has expressed deep regret following the dismissal of Hansi Flick as Germany coach.

Germany’s defeat against Japan (1-4) this Saturday sealed Hansi Flick’s future. The German technician was dismissed from his position as coach the day after the match against the Samuraïs Bleus. One day before the next friendly clash against France, the former glory of German football, Rudi Völler, responsible for acting as coach of the Mannschaft, returned to the dismissal of the technician from Heidelberg. The former Olympique de Marseille and AS Roma striker said he thought the former Bayern Munich coach was capable of relaunching the quadruple world champions. In particular, after their elimination in the first round of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

“Flick has become tired in recent months: together with his staff, he tried to improve the national team, but unfortunately he did not succeed, thus regretted the 1990 world champion in a press release from the DFB (German Football Federation). The Japan match showed us that there would be no progress. It’s not an easy moment because in February we met with the DFB and gave our support to Flick. In fact, we thought he would revive our national team”he confided.
