Benzema, the big lie

From Saudi Arabia, Karim Benzema supports his training club, Olympique Lyonnais which is last in Ligue 1 after 4 days.

Jean-Michel Aulas was never able to realize his dream of bringing Karim Benzema back to OL. Having become a legend of Real Madrid and French football by winning the 2022 Ballon d’Or, the now 35-year-old striker therefore headed to Saudi Arabia this summer, to continue his career at Al-Ittihad .

Since Jeddah, “KB9” has not forgotten Les Gones. On Sunday, he published a photo of himself in the Lyon jersey, in front of the north turn of the Stade de Gerland. From 2005 to 2009, the kid from Bron scored 66 goals in 158 matches with his training club. Benzema is probably saddened by the turn of events at Olympique Lyonnais.

Bought by the American John Textor, the Rhone club is going through a nightmare period, between difficulties in recruiting (due to the sanction of the LFP), catastrophic results in Ligue 1 (no victory for a last place at the international break before the replacement imminent Laurent Blanc) and transfer of arms between “JMA” and the current owner.
