Bad news for the Blues

Well on its way to qualifying for Euro 2024, the France team will however face the Dutch and Greeks who are vying for second place. The two selections both won their respective meetings on Sunday evening.

After its 5th victory in as many matches in the Euro 2024 qualifiers, Didier Deschamps’ French team is playing a gala friendly match against Germany on Tuesday evening in Dortmund. It’s in a month that serious things will resume for the Blues. They will have the opportunity to validate their qualification, but will face the Netherlands in a crucial shock for the Oranje, on October 13 in Amsterdam.

The Dutch selection obtained its third victory in 4 away matches in Ireland (1-2) on Sunday evening, thanks to goals from Cody Gakpo (19th, sp) and Wout Weghorst (56th). The Netherlands now have 9 points, with a game in hand, tied with Greece, who won 5-0 against Gibraltar at the same time. Nothing is done in the race for the second sesame.

During the next international window, Gustavo Poyet’s Greeks will challenge the Irish, close to elimination, and could benefit from a poor result from the Dutch against the Blues. A Greece-Netherlands is then scheduled for October 16 and the Hellenic team will try to create the feat and then play their last match against France to the fullest, on November 21 in Athens.
