Thunderbolt at PSG!

Announced as leaving, Julian Draxler finally refused his departure to Al-Ahli, and will stay at PSG this season.

This is the bad news at the end of the transfer window for Paris Saint-Germain. While it hoped to get rid of Marco Verratti and Julian Draxler by sending them to Qatar, the capital club will not achieve its goals.

If Verratti’s departure is still on the agenda, and should be quickly made official, that of Draxler has collapsed. According to Florian Plettenberg, Sky’s transfer journalist, the German midfielder simply refused to join Al-Ahli. He will therefore stay at PSG, unless another solution is found in the coming days.

Loaned last season to Benfica Lisbon, Draxler does not fit into Luis Enrique’s plans for this season. He does not appear on the list of players registered to play in the Champions League, with the other banned players Marco Verratti and Hugo Ekitike.

The German international, who will celebrate his 30th birthday this September, is entering his last year of contract with Paris Saint-Germain. His future in France could not be more unclear, and PSG would clearly have liked his situation to be resolved this week. We will therefore still have to wait.
