Barely promoted to the French team, Mike Maignan delivered a performance that Hugo Lloris had not been able to achieve in 14 years of presence in the cages of the Blues.

It is impassable. Thursday evening, Mike Maignan kept his clean sheet again, against Ireland (5-0), in the Euro 2024 qualifiers. And to situate the performance, it is the first time since 2007 that the team of France has not conceded a goal for five consecutive official competition matches.

This statistic really hurts Hugo Lloris, who has been the starter for the Blues since… 2008. In 14 years of presence in the French cages, the former OL player has never achieved the performance signed by Maignan from the start of his “mandate”, since these five official matches in which the Milan goalkeeper returned a “clean sheet” each time are the only five he has played since he was officially promoted to number 1.
