This summer, the transfer market was pretty crazy thanks in particular to the XXL development of Saudi football. The Saudi Pro League clubs did not hesitate to break the bank to afford football stars. In the Premier League, clubs have once again splurged in the transfer window with record transfers to a number of clubs. This Friday, FIFA published a report on the figures for this summer transfer window. “The total transfer compensation reached the historic threshold of 7.36 billion dollars (editor’s note: or 6.87 billion euros) for the period between June 1 and September 1”, we can read in the press release. The amount of compensation increased by 47.2% compared to 2022.

This year again, it is obviously the Premier League which spent the most on the transfer market. “Behind England, Saudi Arabia was the biggest spender (USD 875.4 million), followed by France (USD 859.7 million), Germany (USD 762.4 million) , Italy (711 million) and Spain (USD 405.6 million). AFC clubs contributed 14% of transfer market spending. This is the first time that clubs from a confederation other than UEFA have crossed the 10% mark., explains FIFA. Finally, another particularity of this transfer window which often makes people cringe: the agents received enormous commissions this summer. The latter received 650 million euros this summer. This represents an increase of 36.9% compared to 2022. Just that.
