A major player in the summer transfer window, Saudi Arabia has managed to attract big names in European football by using drastic means. But sometimes money just isn’t enough to tip the scales in his favor and Al-Ittihad just experienced that with Mohamed Salah. If Liverpool lost some of its executives this summer like Fabinho and Jordan Henderson, the Mersey club held on for its Egyptian star.

After refusing a first check for €100 million last week, the DailyMail informs that the Reds have rejected a final record offer (more than 200 M €) from Al-Ittihad on the sidelines of the closure of the transfer market in Saudi Arabia. True to its beliefs, the English club never intended to part with Mohamed Salah, one year from the end of his contract. But Liverpool will have to remain vigilant as the British media add that the Saudis have no intention of letting go of the Egyptian. Al-Ittihad, like Al-Ahli and Al-Hilal, plans to return to the charge next year. It remains to be seen whether by then Liverpool will have changed their tune.
