Second most expensive recruit in the club’s history, Nicolas Pépé leaves the Gunners on the sly.
Nicolas Pépé and Arsenal, it’s over! One year from the end of his contract, the Ivorian international leaves the Gunners for Turkey, and the Trabzonspor club, for a reported transfer of 3 million euros.
This is therefore the end of a completely failed stint at Arsenal for the former Lille player. Pépé was recruited for 80 million euros in 2019, for what was the Gunners’ record transfer for a long time (until the arrival of Declan Rice this summer).
Pépé will have compiled 16 goals and 9 assists in 80 Premier League matches, between 2019 and 2022. He was loaned to Nice last season, and this time is leaving Arsenal permanently, one year from the end of his contract.
