Liverpool have rejected a €175million bid from Al-Ittihad for Mohamed Salah, but the Saudi Pro League side are now set to break the world transfer record to free the striker.
With the transfer window for Saudi clubs closing on Thursday evening, Al-Ittihad will be hoping to strike in the coming hours.
After successfully luring Fabinho from Liverpool, Al-Ittihad are now hoping to make a splash with the arrival of Salah.
The Egyptian striker has been under contract with Liverpool since 2017 and has won everything there is to win with the Reds. For this reason, the English superpower have no intention of simply cooperating with Salah’s departure and will do everything in their power to fight the loss of a player who has become an Anfield icon.
THE Daily Telegraph However, reports that Al-Ittihad are reportedly ready to make a €233m bid for the 31-year-old striker on the final day of the transfer market.
233 million euros!
Salah could thus become the most expensive player in history and dethrone Neymar. The Brazilian superstar moved from Barcelona to PSG for €222m on August 3, 2017 and can now be found in Saudi Arabia, where he plays for Al-Hilal.
Should Salah leave Liverpool anyway, it would be a significant loss for the Premier League club.
Liverpool have already seen Jordan Henderson (Al-Ettifaq), James Milner (Brighton & Hove Albion), Roberto Firmino (Al-Ahli), Naby Keïta (Werder Bremen), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Besiktas) and Fabinho leave this summer.
