The wave of Saudi clubs has swept across the football planet. To mark the occasion, a considerable windfall of new money was injected into the transfer window in order to recruit certain stars like Neymar or Sadio Mané. European clubs took the opportunity to fill their treasury but already the first doubts arise. The ECA is particularly concerned about payment guarantees. The Association of European Clubs, which re-elected Nasser Al-Khelaïfi as its head in recent hours, is monitoring this situation carefully. In the long term, she fears above all for the domination of European football. This is what the boss of PSG, who was also reelected as ECA representative to the UEFA Executive Committee, explained at the end of the general assembly in Berlin, even if he did not seem more worried than that. “Most clubs have sold their players to them. So if we are not satisfied, why do we sell our players to them?he asks himself.

“Today we are trying to develop and grow… more European clubs are taking part in European competitions. This is what small and medium-sized clubs want.he says, referring to the Europa League Conference created two years ago. “I don’t think there are any other clubs coming from outside of Europe. I don’t know what will happen in a few years but today I don’t believe that a club from outside will play here. If there is a Super Cup or something, why not? But playing in Europe in a competition, if you are not European, you know it better than me, I do not think. This deserves to be clear and to reassure his colleagues in European clubs.
