Untenable during France-Ireland (2-0), Thursday evening at the Parc des Princes, Kylian Mbappé was a decisive passer but could not add a goal to his counter, missing on several occasions. The tricolor prodigy has never scored against this opponent in three games now.
The debut of Kylian Mbappé as captain of the France team is more than perfect, since the Blues chained their 5th victory in as many days of qualifying for Euro 2024, Thursday evening at the Parc des Princes, against the Ireland (2-0). The 2022 world vice-champions are very close to easy qualification.
In his usual PSG garden, Mbappé hurt the Irish very badly. He is not only a decisive passer on the opener, a setback for Aurélien Tchouaméni, author of a huge strike (19th). He also created many chances, which were not converted by his teammates.
A day without at the end
But the 24-year-old prodigy failed to score his 41st goal for his 71 selection. He shook the nets, in force, but his goal was disallowed for offside (38th). In the second half, he was blocked on the 2nd goal scored by Marcus Thuram (47th), missed his recovery (55th), did not fit a face-to-face (before being signaled offside, 56th) and sent a powerful strike from the left in the stands to conclude (89th).
Faced with this same opponent, Mbappé had not scored against Dublin on March 27, Benjamin Pavard having given the victory to the Blues. And the kid from Bondy also remained silent during his first meeting against the Irish, in May 2018 at the Stade de France, in preparation for the Russian World Cup. The young Monegasque had a decisive passer on a nice goal from Nabil Fekir for the 2-0.
