Manchester United are accumulating them. After the soap opera Mason Greenwood (finally loaned to Getafe) and the clash between Erik ten Hag and Jadon Sancho, the Red Devils must manage the Antony case. As a reminder, the Brazilian was accused by his ex-girlfriend of having committed terrible domestic violence. Accusations followed by the publication of damning evidence against the Mancunian in the Brazilian press.

An event which also forced Manchester to react officially. “Manchester United acknowledge the allegations made against Antony and note that the police are investigating. Pending further information, the club will make no further comment. We take this matter seriously, considering the impact of these allegations and subsequent reports they will have on victims.” A brief press release that was not enough to calm things down.

MU attacked

THE DailyMail points a finger at an accused club “to cover Antony”. Clearly, MU categorically denies the version that a member of his medical staff treated Antony’s ex-girlfriend after his violence. The club have simply confirmed that they helped the player and his former girlfriend to get a medical appointment. But that’s not all.

In another article, the English tabloid accuses MU of not having learned the lesson of the Greenwood case. In addition, the club dear to Sir Alex Ferguson is accused of having allowed Antony to continue playing for months, despite calls from anti-violence associations asking for the Brazilian’s suspension as soon as the facts became known in last June. Quite a headache for MU who would have done well without such a deal for a player who cost 100 M € barely a year ago.
