Real Madrid have been unlucky with injuries since the start of the season.

Thibaut Courtois seriously injured his anterior cruciate ligament days before the start of the season, and Eder Militao did the same on matchday one against Athletic Club.

As if that weren’t enough, Vinicius Junior tore his hamstrings in Real Madrid’s matchday three win over Celta Vigo, and the Brazilian’s expected downtime is around six weeks. .

There have been talks of Vinicius being available for the Madrid derby at the end of the month but as Diario AS report, Real Madrid don’t want to rush the 22-year-old’s return to action. Los Blancos hope to have him for the trip to Sevilla, which will take place four weeks later.

Vinicius’ recovery is going according to plan: he went through rehabilitation at Valdebabas and was even spotted last weekend at the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix at Monza, near the city of Milan.

Real Madrid are yet to feel the effects of Vinicius’ absence, and his substitute against Getafe (Joselu) scored in that game. Nonetheless, he remains one of the club’s most important players and coach Carlo Ancelotti will be eagerly awaiting his return.
