Laurent Blanc and OL, it’s over!

Laurent Blanc should not make old bones at the head of Olympique Lyonnais.

Barely a year after his arrival, Laurent Blanc is about to return his coaching apron from Olympique Lyonnais. The management of the club would have decided to separate from him following the start of the catastrophic season experienced by the first team (1 point taken during the first four days).

Textor sealed Blanc’s case

According to RMC Sport, the Cévénol will leave the Gones bench as soon as a replacement is found. It could be a matter of months or maybe weeks. The Brazilian Bruno Lage (Botafogo) is still the favorite to succeed him.

Blanc did not have many illusions as to his maintenance at the head of the team. Last Sunday, after the conceded rout against PSG (1-4), he indicated that he was not sure that he would still be in place when the game resumed. A speech that does not differ too much from the one he has insisted on since the start of the year and which earned him to be reframed by the owner John Textor.

Blanc had taken over from Peter Bosz barely a year ago. With him, OL only finished 7e of Ligue 1, once again missing qualification for Europe. Nevertheless, on the return phase of the championship, the Rhodanians ranked 3e. An awakening that they hoped to be able to extend this season. In vain. Affected by the absences for injury and also the departure of several hopes (Lukeba and Barcola), they completely scuttled themselves.
