In search of a replacement for Randal Kolo Muani, Eintracht Frankfurt missed the boat with Elye Wahi by offering an amount far too low.
It was the somewhat crazy scenario of the last day of the summer transfer window. Eintracht Frankfurt did everything to retain Randal Kolo Muani, because the German club could not find another striker to replace him.
Since Kolo Muani had expressed his desire to leave at the beginning of August, Frankfurt nevertheless had time to plan for it. But Eintracht was far from the account on Victor Boniface (Leverkusen), and did not succeed with Elye Wahi.
The Montpellier striker had yet visited the facilities of the German club, but Frankfurt offered “only” 15 million euros to Montpellier, while the French international hopes went to Lens for twice that amount. An insufficient offer, and somewhat ridiculous, because Eintracht was nevertheless certain to recover a very nice check with Kolo Muani (who arrived free a year earlier, let us remember).
Kicker recalled the facts on Wednesday, and in particular the evolution of PSG offers: 65 million on August 20, 70 million plus 5 million bonuses on August 29, and finally 95 million euros, with bonuses easily reachable, to convince Frankfurt to give in a few hours from the end of the transfer window.
