Loaned by Atlético de Madrid to FC Barcelona this summer, João Félix would have made enormous sacrifices to join the Catalan team.
Considered one of the greatest talents of his generation, João Félix is struggling to definitively launch his career at the highest level. After hatching at Benfica Lisbon, the Portuguese international failed to live up to the promises his immense talent called for. Technical, classy, the versatile striker lacks consistency.
After a transfer to Atlético de Madrid, João Félix chained disappointing seasons, to the point of becoming undesirable within the Madrid club. And it was not his disappointing performances in England last season, in the Chelsea jersey, which allowed him to revive. To achieve this, the Portuguese international opted for a team that would correspond to his style of play: FC Barcelona.
João Félix gave up a huge sum!
João Félix was therefore loaned to the Catalan team just before the end of the summer transfer window. A last minute deal that was difficult to finalize. Because according to information from the Portuguese newspaper A Bola, the player had to sit on a sum of nearly 17 million euros to join the Blaugrana. The Portuguese media specifies that the striker would lose 5 million euros this season, as well as 12 million euros for the rest of his contract at Atlético, the Madrid club demanding that his player extend until 2028 while dividing his annual salary by two.
