Selectable with the Bleuets, Hugo Ekitike was able to speak with Thierry Henry about his situation at the club.
Before revealing his first list to face Denmark on September 7 in a friendly match, Thierry Henry called Hugo Ekitike and Mathys Tel according to RMC. In the last hours of the transfer window, the Paris Saint-Germain striker refused to go to Eintracht Frankfurt.
“I called Hugo, I wanted to know where he was. I’m not going to tell you about our discussion. He knows what he has to do, not even what I expect, but what he has to do. So we’ll see what happens.”, said the new coach of the France Espoirs team. The former Rémois will have to face enormous competition within the club of the capital. “It’s not easy to find yourself in this kind of situation. You have to remember that a year ago everyone wanted it (…) the fight ahead – in attack – in Paris is going to be terrible”warns the 1998 world champion.

At PSG, Hugo Ekitike will have to deal with the presence of Gonçalo Ramos, Randal Kolo Muani or even Asensio for the position of center forward. Even tougher competition than last season under Christophe Galtier. During the 2022-2023 financial year, the Franco-Cameroonian had played 32 matches in all competitions and scored four goals.
