Rubiales affair: The apologies of the Spanish Federation

This Tuesday, the Spanish Football Federation issued a public apology for the behavior of Luis Rubiales during the Women’s World Cup.

Football, and more particularly Spanish football, has been shaken for two weeks by the affair Luis Rubiales, suspended from his duties as president of the Spanish Federation following the forced kiss to the player of La Roja Jennifer Hermoso. Since August 26 – 6 days after the famous kiss – it is Pedro Rocha who performs his duties with interim status.

Huge damage

This Tuesday, it was through him that the RFEF apologized for the actions and “inappropriate behavior” of its former president. “The Royal Spanish Football Federation, through its President, Mr. Pedro Rocha, considers it essential to ask for the most sincere apologies from all of world football, from the football institutions (FIFA, UEFA , FN), from football players, in particular players of the national teams of Spain and England, to other football players. (…) The damage caused to Spanish football, to Spanish sport, to Spanish society and to the values ​​of football and sport in general is enormous. The RFEF wishes to express to the whole of society and to the whole of world football its deepest regrets for what has happened and which has tarnished our national team, our football and our sport.”can we read in particular in the published apology letter.
