For English media The Athletic, British international midfielder Jordan Henderson returned to his departure from Liverpool this summer.

After twelve years of good and loyal service, Jordan Henderson said goodbye to Liverpool. The former captain of Reds flew to Saudi Arabia, like many others this summer, to commit to the club ofAl-Ettifaq for three years, i.e. until June 2026, with an estimated salary of 815,000 euros per week.

The English international has thus found the former legend of the Mersey, Steven Gerrard, under whose orders he now evolves. However, the former Sunderland midfielder has some regrets that the Liverpuldian leadership did nothing to hold him back.

“If someone at the club said to me, ‘Now we want you to stay’, then we wouldn’t be having this conversation. Then I have to think about the future of my career. Now that’s not to say that they forced me out of the club or that they wanted me to leave, but at no point did I feel like Liverpool or anyone at the club wanted me to. I’m staying”as Henderson explained to The Athletic.
