On Sunday night, Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami beat LAFC 3-1 in a star-studded game, but the Argentine was the target of a nearly missed assault.
After the match, the World Cup winner stayed on the pitch for quite a while, in the company of several stars, including actor Owen Wilson and Italian player Giorgio Chiellini of LAFC. As he was heading towards the BMO Stadium tunnel, a projectile was thrown at the Argentine. Fortunately, the object missed his head and hit a barrier next to him, allowing security personnel to quickly evacuate him down the hallway.
Messi’s arrival at Inter Miami has been beneficial for the Herons as the striker has contributed to 16 goals in just 11 appearances. If qualifying for the MLS playoffs seems difficult on paper, it is very likely that the club will make their first appearance in the MLS post-season.
