Mauricio Pochettino, the Chelsea manager, has reacted to remarks that his team lacked attacking skills.
Chelsea coach Mauricio Pochettino has assured that he does not regret the departure of Romelu Lukaku for AS Roma.
Pochettino does not regret Lukaku
Chelsea had Nicolas Jackson in attack and Deivid Washington on the bench in Saturday’s loss to Nottingham Forest. It was then crying that this formation lacked real offensive weapons.
But, Pochettino got used to it. And, above all, he insisted that there was no chance that Lukaku would be kept in the squad.
When asked if he was disappointed that things didn’t work out with the Belgian, the ex-PSG coach’s response was: “The situation was very clear and I didn’t created expectation in my mind, retorted the Argentinian. What I heard from the club, that the player wanted to leave, I believe him. The circumstances were clear”.
As a reminder, Lukaku joined AS Roma on loan. He reunited with his former Manchester United coach, José Mourinho.
Apart from Lukaku, Chelsea also got rid of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer. Not used at all last season, the Gabonese was transferred to OM.
