Never before has English football spent so much on a summer transfer market. And Chelsea again stood out.
The transfer craze continues to plague English football. Premier League clubs spent this summer some… 2.3 billion pounds sterling, nearly 2.7 billion euros, unheard of in a summer transfer window, says research firm Deloitte.
Once again, Chelsea showed their muscles with a recruitment estimated at 464 million euros (source transfermarkt), including 116 for Moisés Caicedo, the Colombian defensive midfielder who arrived from Brighton.

The London club will have spent nearly 1.2 billion euros, in three transfer periods, since the arrival of new owner Todd Boehly in June 2022.
Premier League clubs have collectively smashed the gross spending record for one window in one league this summer. £2.3bn+. I’m going to call it now: the 3 relegated teams this season are going to come from the five lowest gross spenders this window. pic.twitter.com/GBZ4eUt502

We can also note the seven arrivals at Nottingham Forest recorded on Friday during the last day of the transfer window: Ibrahim Sangaré, Divock Origi, Nuno Tavares, Nicolas Dominguez, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Odysseas Vlachodimos and Andrew Omobamidele.
