Arsenal: Arteta explains why he didn’t want Balogun

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has admitted there is no place for youngster Folarin Balogun in his squad.

“We had no room for Balogun”

The striker, who also plays for the United States, now plays for Monaco in Ligue 1. Despite an impressive season at Reims in France last season, Balogun did not do enough to earn a place in the team. Arteta at Arsenal.

The Spaniard told reporters on Friday: “We didn’t have room for Balogun: We didn’t have room for him in the squad to give him the minutes he needs.”

The Basque technician still says he is happy for his former protege, and is convinced of his success on the Rock: “He did well last year on loan. So I’m very happy for him.”

Balogun could make his debut with ASM this Saturday, in the league game against Lens. He is in Adi Huttler’s group for this tussle.
